Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian

I think I am falling in love with Amy Adams.

She’s just so cute and likable and earnest and smiley and cute…Did I say cute? She is the celluloid equivalent of a puppy trying to lick ice cream off its nose. I usually abhor cute, but there is something REAL about Amy Adams. I just wish I could stop confusing her with Isla Fisher. I’m still not going to try to sit through Julie & Julia any time soon.

That being said, the romantic subplot between Larry and Amelia Earhart annoyed the bejeezus out of me. Where the romance between Teddy and Sacajawea in the first one was touching and sweet, the idea of Larry reluctantly kissing the reanimated wax dummy of Amelia Earhart creeped me the fuck out. Just…NO.

Notwithstanding the creepy romance and stupid doppelgänger scene at the end, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. The ruby red slippers made an appearance and although there was no Kermit, I was pleased to see Oscar the Grouch.

I did expect to see Jonah Hill for more than one scene, but I’m not complaining – he’s kind of icky. Craig Robinson as one of the Tuskeegee Airmen – YAY! Bill Hader as General Custer – YAY! (He’s one of the most underrated players on SNL right now…he makes me laugh no matter what.) Christopher Guest as Ivan the Terrible, um, Awesome – YAY! The Jonas Brothers as the singing cherubs – BOO! HISS!

So…do I hear a sequel coming? How about a plan to move Sacajawea to a museum on the East Coast and Teddy loses his shit and starts attacking people with his sword? Or maybe my idea about Body Worlds? THE HORROR!
