This is my second favorite film of all time. I’m not sure why. I don’t know anybody else who likes this film. No one. It made my friend Stacy cry. Another friend, Justin, tells anyone who asks that they should “Never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never ever” watch this film. That’s right, eight nevers. My boyfriend won’t even watch this film with me. I don’t care, I love it.

It starts as most road movies do – a crime is committed and the protagonists must be on the run. Unlike most road movies, the main protagonist is a female. Amy Blue, played by Rose McGowan, is a teenage meth worshipper. Her boyfriend, Jordan White, played by James Duval, is such a pothead that he is one taco short of a combination plate. In other words, the wheel is spinning, but the gerbil is gone. They meet up with Xavier Red, played by Jonathan Schaech, the hottest asshole in the world. Sex, drugs and violence ensue. Look for Skinny Puppy as a gang of Neo-Nazi punks, the Vietnamese guy from 21 Jump Street, Parker Posey as crazy lesbian, and Perry Farrell working at a convenience store.

As a whole, this film made me a much better person. It actually changed my life. It also made me wish I was a teenager again. Ah, for lost youth. Also being the first film by Gregg Araki that I’d seen, it made me hunger for more.
