Hmmmm…what a dumb bitch.
I really didn’t feel a sense of urgency to see this, since it seemed like the trailer pretty much showed the whole film. So I waited until it came on cable and had nothing better to do – and found that I was right.
It was a decent film to watch, nothing spectacular, but it didn’t bore me to tears either. It was like one of those Lifetime Networks tearjerkers – evil husband beats/gives VD to/frames wife, then wife has her sweet revenge – she kills the bastard. The only thing different is that you get Ashley Judd’s breasts.
Tommy Lee Jones walks through the film, playing the exact same role as from The Fugitive films. He’s a bit more likeable in this one, mostly because he’s an alcoholic – that always helps.
The legality in this one was a little questionable – they were totally wrong about how ‘double jeopardy’ works. You can’t be tried for the same crime twice in the same jurisdiction, so if she would have killed her husband in New Orleans, she still would have been tried for murder, since her original trial was in another state. Also, I was wondering why she only served six years of her sentence. Body or not, six years is a damn light time served for murder. And why didn’t she fight it? What the fuck? I would have been screaming from here to Tuesday if it had happened to me.
Also, I would have gone ahead and shot him in the face at the Bachelor’s Auction. In front of a thousand people, fuck it. Okay, maybe I would have waited to find out where my son was, then I would have shot him in the face.
I was also disappointed that there were no hot lesbian prison scenes. C’est la vie.
